Welcome to Woodledge! Spring and summer are short seasons in New England, so we really try to make as many amazing memories as possible.

Woodledge was founded in 1962. It is situated on a 19+ acre lot that was thought to be unbuildable when many South Glastonbury neighborhoods were being developed. It is the second oldest co-op pool club in Glastonbury. Our bonded members own and operate the club and much of the maintenance is coordinated or completed by members.

Season Details:

Tennis Courts/Pickleball: Both sets of tennis courts, as well as pickleball nets, are ready and playable beginning the first week of May and are available for use by our members through Columbus Day.

Bathrooms and Showers: Available from the first week of May through Columbus Day, or until we get a hard frost that requires us to drain the pipes.

Pools: Available from the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day.

Hours

Woodledge has different guarded hours depending on the season. From Memorial Day to the day Glastonbury Public Schools let out for summer, Woodledge follows an abbreviated schedule. The pool has lifeguards on duty Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Please see the website for those abbreviated weekend hours.

The day after Glastonbury Public Schools let out for summer vacation marks our transition to fully open.

Please note that Monday through Friday, swim team is held in the main pool from 8:30-11a and swim lessons run from 11a-1p. Open swim begins at 1p.

Woodledge may need to make adjustments to the guarded hours and if we do, our membership will receive notice well in advance.

Woodledge allows members to access the club during non-guarded hours.

If you use the pool during that time, it is swim at your own risk. You assume all responsibility.

THE POOL GATES MUST REMAIN CLOSED WHEN LIFEGUARDS ARE OFF DUTY.

As of the 2026 season, there is no property sitting.

Pool lights and landscape lighting are located on the right side of the bath house. They are on a timer and can be set for different periods of time. Pool lights must be on when swimming after dusk.

Lifeguards go off duty at 7p, 8p or 9p depending on the day of the week. They remain off duty until the main pool opens for free swim. Any person under 21 wishing to swim during unguarded hours MUST be accompanied by a responsible adult, 21 years and up. If at any time, you or a member of your family or a guest of yours is found to be participating in risky behavior or abusing this Woodledge policy, your membership will be terminated, regardless of status.

Please make note, Woodledge is monitored by security cameras that go on when guards go off duty until lap swim ends at 8a.

Facilities

Please familiarize yourself with the standardized CT pool rules located at the entrance of the pool and located outside of the bathhouse.

Should you need an umbrella, they are located in umbrella stands on the deck.

Woodledge members love to share picnic tables.

Woodledge Baby Pool: This pool is never guarded; swim at your own risk. It is completely enclosed by a 48″ gate that uses a magnalatch lock. This area is well loved by our littlest members and features grassy areas, picnic tables and other pool chairs. This pool is slightly deeper than 1 foot. It is critical to stay vigilant and close to your children in the baby pool so that you can assist them should they slip under water.

Woodledge Main Pool: Commonly referred to as “the big pool”. This pool has three lifeguard stands with a rotation of lifeguards throughout opening hours. The big pool has a diving well (10.5’ deep) and diving board and the shallow end (4-5’ deep) has a basketball hoop.

Pool floats can only be used in the pool at Woodledge organized events.

Pool noodles can only be used in the pool at Woodledge organized events.

Please don’t dive or jump off of the blocks during free swim.

Puddle jumpers and life jackets are allowed in both pools.

Lifeguard/First Aid Station: Located in the middle of the building with a whale painted on it. Should you or someone you interact with need first aid, you can find additional lifeguard staff at the red lifeguard table on the pool deck and at the first aid station. Woodledge also has an AED located on the exterior of the bathhouse.

Tennis Courts: Woodledge has two sets of tennis courts – three hartru clay tennis courts and three hard tennis courts which also have pickleball lines and nets. Should you need to borrow balls, a racquet, or other items, you can go to the lower tennis shed during programming hours and tennis staff will assist you!

Pavilion: Woodledge has a covered pavilion on the far side of the pool deck. The pavilion can be reserved for birthday parties, events, and other activities. There are two events allowed per date, during the time windows of 12-4p or 4-8p. There is no fee to reserve the pavilion; we just ask that you pay guest fees for those who are not members. See note on guest fees in policy area of this document. To reserve the pavilion, please email Lexi at [email protected] with the date and time block you would like. Please respect a family’s pavilion reservation.

Snack Shack: The Woodledge Snack Shack is located within the pavilion. Three times a day during adult swim, the snack shack opens. The snack shack sells ice cream, popsicles, snacks and drinks. Woodledge Whale Bucks cards are the primary and preferred currency at the snack shack. Whale Bucks cards are sold in punch card format.

You may buy Whale Bucks at any time by sending a Venmo payment to @woodledge or by paying cash ($20 for 20 whale buck punches). You may pick up Whale Bucks at the snack shack when it is open. Simply show the transaction ID and the information will be recorded. A card with the family name purchasing will be given to you. Whale Bucks never expire, but we cannot replace lost punch cards.

Cash and Whale Bucks are also accepted at swim meets.

Depending on the time of your event and the day of the week, the pavilion may be accessed by staff to open the snack shack. During these times, they will sell snacks out of the small ice cream window that faces the pool. This will be coordinated with the family reserving the pavilion as to not disrupt the event.

Playscape and other play areas: Woodledge has a vinyl playscape featuring a rock wall and three slides. This is located next to the pavilion. Woodledge also has six swings, a gaga pit and a basketball court at the top of the hill behind the pavilion.

Parking: Woodledge has two parking lots. The main parking lot is at the top of the first driveway. If you go through the cattle gate to the right, it will bring you up a gravel driveway to the upper parking lot, which is located next to the basketball court. We ask that you drive slowly through the lots for the safety of people walking through the grounds.

Policies

Guests: You are welcome and encouraged to bring guests to Woodledge Club. Each guest is $5 per person or $10 per family. We ask that you Venmo @woodledge or pay cash.

We have two cash boxes – one on the lower tennis shed and one on the fence near the baby pool. Please use the QR code to register your guset. We do not have a formal check in process, and we rely on the integrity of our members to pay the guest fee on the honor system. Please fill out the form for the guest or family and pay the guest fee. The guest fees go directly back to the club and are invested in things that we all care about. You are responsible for the behavior of your guests. A guest may not come to Woodledge without a member with the exception of Woodledge events that are specifically noted as available to non-members.

You MUST pay guest fees for tennis-only guests.

Child Members: No child member or guest under 12 years old can be left at Woodledge unattended. You are responsible for the behavior of your children. Children 12+ may be left at Woodledge unattended should they pass level 6 swim lessons. A child 12+ may lose the privilege to be on Woodledge grounds should they exhibit behavior that makes it clear they cannot be left unattended.

Please be mindful of where your children are and what they are doing.

The whale is always safe when playing shark – unless otherwise indicated.

Volunteerism: Woodledge asks members to give a minimum of 4 hours of their time each season through Volunteer Hours. Regardless of how many people are in your family, we just ask that you give 4 hours total. Come to spring or fall clean-up day, grill at burger night, run the snack shack, host an event, or roll the tennis courts – there are numerous opportunities to give your time. If you would like to opt out of this, you may donate $300 to Woodledge and those funds will be put towards the upkeep of the club.

Event/Bond Policy: A member must host an event within their first five years of membership at Woodledge. If the event is not hosted and the member resigns after the five-year mark, half of the bond will be retained by Woodledge. If a member leaves before the five-year mark, no portion of the bond will be retained.

Notes

Burger Night: Each Thursday beginning 6/18 and ending on 8/20, Woodledge hosts Burger Night. During this time, volunteers grill hot dogs, veggie burgers, hamburgers, cheese burgers, grilled cheese. With your grilled food, you will also receive fresh fruit and a bag of chips. You can purchase an annual burger night pass or pay $25 weekly for your family to attend each week. If only one of your family members will be eating, it is $7.50. It is a weekly tradition that runs from 5p-9p. Feel free to bring guests!

Crafts: Crafts run in June and July from 11:30-1p on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Woodledge will also host a handful of craft events in August, which will be added to our events calendar.

Events: The events calendar is located on the Woodledge website and is maintained regularly to show a current view of all events. Click “Events” on the upper right-hand corner of the main landing page. Woodledge will communicate information regarding events during the week of the event, and may ask for RSVPs depending on the type of event.

Programming: Woodledge has a robust programming calendar for both adults and children. All information regarding program offerings will be shared and updated on the Woodledge website.
